Linseed oil (or walnut, sunflower, etc.) in oil paints causes pigments to inevitably darken and fade in color over time. This is why all masterpieces you see in the museums are very dark. Even when kept under the best conditions, paintings by famous artists like Leonardo Da Vinci still degrade.
Perfect for Bedrooms
Keep it in the dark as long as you like. There is absolutely no harm to gemstones when you keep the artwork away from light sources for extended period of time... even for centuries!

Oil paints will become darker when kept in the dark. Pigments used in oil paintings require constant exposure to light to slow down the rate of fading and loss of colors.

Gems and crystal mica base don't absorb moisture, thus they don't bend, expand or contract because of humidity change. Best kept between 25 to 85% humidity. Suitable for all urban humidity levels (ex. New York 56 to 72% and Los Angeles 65 to 79%).
Surface Cracks Easily
Oil paints vs. canvas expansion or contraction is very sensitive to moisture, like when it's under too humid or too dry room conditions. Has to be kept at 40 to 55% humidity. The normal humidity level in most cities in the world has to be controlled to avoid problems.
